RULES OF CONDUCT AT THE DOJO (AB CLUB BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU)
1- MUST begin class with a formal bow to the Master or Instructor with students lining up in descending grade order.
2- MUST end class with a formal bow to the Master or Instructor.
3- MUST always be friendly and willing to help others inside and outside the Dojo.
4- MUST always welcome newcomers and visitors and show them Respect and Courtesy.
5- MUST only use the techniques you learn for Self-Defense, to protect others and yourself.
6- MUST always practice control and safety for others and yourself.
7- MUST wear a clean Rash Guard or T-Shirt underneath the Gi / Kimono.
8- MUST wear a clean uniform ( GI / KIMONO ) displaying only the proper patches and belt rank.
9- MUST wear a clean Rash guard or T-Shirt and Grappling Short for NO GI class.
10- MUST tie the GI / Kimono, facing the wall.
11- MUST the belt represents your progress. Keep it on.
12- MUST remove jewelry for safety to yourself and others( rings, necklaces, earrings, watch, etc.)
13- MUST practice Personal cleanliness, it is essential. Please attend to all aspects of personal hygiene. . Fingernails and toenails MUST be kept short!! . Should always shower accordingly!! . Deodorant MUST be worn. . Breath MUST be clean. . Please don't pass gas on the mat. . Please don't burp out loud on the mat. . Excessive make-up, perfume/cologne is not recommended. . ABSOLUTELY NO FOUL, VULGAR LANGUAGE INSIDE THE SCHOOL.
14- MUST help to keep the Dojo clean and presentable at all times.
15- MUST be on the mat (10) ten minutes before it starts.
16- MUST if you cannot be at class when it starts please discuss it with the instructor.
17- MUST sit by the side of the mat and wait for the permission from the Instructor if you be late to class.
18- IF late more than 15 minutes without an appropriate reason, you will not be able to spar. You will do only practice technique.
19- MUST call if unable to make class or send text message or email.
20- MUST wear appropriate footwear on mat( Barefoot, Socks or Wrestling shoes.)
21- MUST always bow when entering or leaving the mat.
22- MUST always bow individually to every black belt present in the Dojo.
23- MUST Bow to your partner before and after spar.
24- MUST not leave the mat for a water break or other reason without express permission of instructor.
25- MAY NOT leave class early without permission, this is unnaceptable.
26- MUST keep talking to a minimum level and it should only relate to the class subject.
27- MUST NOT bring cell phones, pagers, beepers or other electronic devices in to mat area or area, without express permission from the instructor.
28- MUST sit quiet and listen while Instructor is demonstrating techniques, wait for the appropriate time to ask questions.
29- MUST practice what is taught in class, NEVER be lazy or cheat during workouts.
30- MUST procceed with caution while applying a choke, joint lock or hold until your partner says break or taps out.
31- MUST notify professor if injured or hurt.
32- MUST show respect to MASTER, your fellow students and the Dojo upon entering and leaving the Dojo.
33- MUST have consent from MASTER before visiting other Dojo's.
34- MUST have consent from MASTER before entering a tournaments.
35- MUST never bring Disgrace or Dishonor to the MASTER or the Dojo.
36- MUST have loyalty to MASTER, Team and the Dojo.
37- MUST protect at all times the name of the Dojo, MASTER and Team.
38- MUST refer to the Black-Belt or Instructor as Master, Mestre or Professor while in classes.
39- MUST agree not to display technique learned in class without MASTER ALDO BATISTA'S authorization.
